Engineering Edge

Keystone Energy's proprietary continuous torrefaction technology is engineered for 6,000+ operating hours per year in modular 50–1000 TPD plant configurations and is compatible with multiple feedstocks such as municipal solid waste, RDF, biomass and STP sludge.

The process produces dry, carbon-dense solid fuels known as Torrefied MSW, Torrefied Biomass, Torrefied Charcoal, BioChar and Green Coal. Measured calorific ranges are feedstock-specific: 3,700–4,000 Kcal/kg for MSW, 4,000–4,300 for rice straw, 3,800–4,000 for RDF, 3,500–3,800 for undigested STP sludge and 3,700–6,000 for woody biomass. These fuels are designed for coal-replacement and co-firing applications in thermal power plants, cement plants, steel plants and industrial boilers.
